- September 24, 2010

The Global Warming Solutions Act of 2006 (California AB 32), signed into law in 2006, mandates that California's greenhouse gas emissions be reduced to 1990 levels by the year 2020.
In the current election cycle, California's Proposition 23 calls for the suspension of AB 32 until unemployment decreases from its current levels of over 12% to under half that figure. High-profile candidates running for Governor and US Senator in California have been ratcheting up the rhetoric on the subject recently.
As the November election draws nearer, stay tuned to Up in the Air for updates on the status of AB 32, Proposition 23 and their potential impact on fire protection in California and in the United States.
